Here’s a vintage 1969 Höfner 12-string acoustic guitar that delivers that classic jangly tone and vintage vibe. It plays and sounds good, but it’s a player’s guitar that would benefit from some TLC.
Condition Overview:
The guitar shows no noticeable fret wear, and the frets have plenty of life left.
There is significant finish checking throughout the body and neck. Many of the checks are textured enough to feel, but they appear to be in the finish only, not structural cracks.
The headstock features a unique five-piece construction, while the neck is built from three pieces of wood, showcasing the craftsmanship Höfner is known for.
The back of the headstock shows some wear at the top edge.
Around the nut area, things look a bit rough, but the nut is still securely in place.
The pickguard is screwed directly into the top—a functional, if unconventional, detail.
This guitar also features a zero fret near the nut, a hallmark of many European-made instruments from the era.
Expect various dings and scratches throughout the body, consistent with over 50 years of age and use.
Notes:
The guitar does not include a case or gig bag.
While it’s playable and has that unmistakable 12-string shimmer, it could benefit from a setup or minor repairs to bring out its full potential.
Summary:
This 1969 Höfner 12-string is a solid piece of vintage gear with plenty of character. If you're into restoring vintage instruments or looking for a unique 12-string with some mojo, this could be a great project or addition to your collection. It’s got that true vintage look, feel, and tone—just needs the right hands to bring it fully back to life.
