This vintage 1961 Gibson C-1 Classical has been tested and plays well, offering a warm, articulate tone that’s characteristic of early Gibson nylon-string guitars. The guitar shows cosmetic aging, including finish checking along the body and the back of the neck, typical of vintage nitrocellulose finishes. Despite its age, the frets show no noticeable wear, and the instrument remains in good playing condition.
The guitar features a solid Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, delivering a rich, resonant sound with great projection. It’s equipped with a Rosewood fingerboard, ebony nut, and a tortoiseshell-style pickguard, along with a classic slotted headstock. The back is unbound, in keeping with the clean, minimalist aesthetic of the C-1 model.
While it does not include original paperwork or documentation, the guitar comes with a hard shell case for protection.
Originally produced from 1957 to 1971, the Gibson C-1 was part of Gibson’s classical guitar line from the mid-20th century. Though not as collectible as Gibson’s steel-string models, these guitars offer excellent craftsmanship and vintage character at a more accessible price point.
