Jackson

Jackson Guitars was born in the late 1970s, right as heavy music was evolving into something louder, faster, and flashier. From a small guitar repair shop in Southern California, Jackson quickly became the go-to brand for metal players demanding style, speed, and cutting-edge performance.

As MTV exploded and a new generation of guitar heroes emerged, players needed more from their instruments—and Jackson delivered. Originally operating under Charvel’s Guitar Repair, the team began crafting high-performance, custom guitars that were unlike anything else on the market. In 1979, they started putting the Jackson name on the headstock—and the shred world took notice.

One of the most pivotal moments in Jackson’s history came in 1980, when a rising star named Randy Rhoads approached the team with a bold idea for a new guitar. Together, they sketched out a design—literally on a napkin—that became the Jackson Concorde. This sleek, V-shaped guitar was the very first to wear the Jackson name. After some refinements and input from Rhoads himself, the now-legendary Jackson Rhoads model was born. Though Randy tragically passed away in 1982, his guitar lives on as an icon in the metal world.

From there, Jackson took off. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, they helped shape the sound and look of metal with standout models like the Soloist™, King V™, Kelly™, Dinky™, Concert™ Bass, and the wild Warrior™. Their designs were fresh, aggressive, and built for speed—earning them a reputation as the ultimate metal machines.

As metal evolved—thrash, death, industrial, nu-metal, metalcore—Jackson evolved with it, always staying ahead of the curve. The brand became a favorite among some of the most respected names in heavy music, including Phil Collen, Chris Broderick, Adrian Smith, Mark Morton, David Ellefson, and more.

Today, Jackson continues to thrive. Their Custom Shop is the longest-running true custom guitar shop in the U.S., still staffed by many of the original craftsmen. Whether you're buying a custom piece or a production model, Jackson guitars deliver uncompromising performance, bold style, and the attitude that metal was built on.

Jackson isn’t just a guitar brand—it’s a legacy. Come see why metal legends and future icons alike choose Jackson, and join a tradition of high-performance excellence with no limits.
