EVH
Since 1978, Edward Van Halen has transformed the guitar world. A true innovator in rock and metal, Eddie didn’t just play guitar—he redefined it. From Van Halen's debut album, he changed the way guitar can be played with the track, "Eruption". Throughout the 80s, 90s, and even up to the present day, Eddie's popularity only grew. Something that never stopped growing for him was his hunger for tone chasing. He was always evolving. He threw so many people off of his rabbit trail to just keep his tone a secret.
Throughout his career, Eddie has been with many guitar companies. Charvel, Kramer, Ernie Ball Music Man, and Peavey just to name a few. In the end, none of them came close to the brand he founded himself, EVH Guitars. In 2004, Eddie partnered with Fender to launch the EVH brand, bringing his tone, style, and vision to players everywhere. The journey began in 2007 with the release of the EVH 5150 III amplifier and a limited-edition tribute to his original Frankenstein guitar. Soon after came the launch of the Wolfgang guitars, named after his son, Wolfgang Van Halen—now a successful artist in his own right. He took the EVH Wolfgang guitars on Van Halen's 2007-2008 reunion tour with David Lee Roth, and road tested and modified the guitars to make them perfect.
Today, the EVH lineup includes a wide range of guitars. From Wolfgang Standard models, to Wolfgang USA models, and even the Stripe Series guitars if you want that iconic striped guitar look and sound.
But EVH isn’t just about guitars. The EVH amplifier line has revolutionized rock and metal tones, offering everything from compact lunchbox heads to 100-watt powerhouses built for stadium stages.
After Eddie’s tragic passing in October 2020, the EVH legacy continues under the guidance of his son Wolfgang and longtime collaborator Matt Bruck. Before his passing, Eddie and Matt carefully planned a long-term future for the brand—one that’s thriving today. One shining example is the SA-126, a bold step into new territory for EVH, used nightly by Wolfgang with his band, Mammoth.
Eddie's spirit lives on in every EVH instrument. From the craftsmanship to the tone, you can feel the passion in every note. We're proud to honor his legacy here at Guitar Hacienda.
