Here’s a great example of a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, a classic Norlin-era workhorse with all the character and tone you'd expect from this iconic model. All electronics have been fully tested and are in excellent working condition. Our in-house technicians have professionally set up the guitar, and there are no signs of fret wear.
Cosmetically, the guitar shows honest playwear with various scratches, dings, and dents throughout the body. It has that naturally worn-in look and feel that vintage guitar enthusiasts love. Despite the cosmetic wear, the guitar is in solid overall condition and performs beautifully.
This Deluxe weighs in at 10.10 lbs, making it a hefty instrument—typical for Les Pauls from the late '70s and early '80s. It feels substantial in the hands and delivers that signature sustain and punch you expect from a vintage Gibson. It both plays and sounds great.
This model comes complete with its original Gibson hard shell case.
The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe was introduced in late 1969 as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard. Featuring mini-humbuckers sourced from Gibson’s acquisition of the Epiphone factory and a volute added to the headstock for increased stability, the Deluxe retained much of the Standard’s identity with some unique Norlin-era updates.
By the late 1970s, Gibson began constructing many necks from laminated 4- to 6-piece maple due to concerns over mahogany quality. These multi-piece maple necks were used until the company transitioned back to mahogany in the early '80s.
This particular model sports the Cherry Red finish, one of the rarer color options from the era, alongside the even scarcer “Sparkle” finishes. These variations are sought after by collectors and often command higher prices on the vintage market.
