The Precision bass was introduced to the world in 1951 and was restyled in 1957 to the familiar shape we know and love today, of which a well-played 1961 version is pictured above. It has a slab asymmetrical double cut-away ash body, a single split-coil pickup, and a one piece, 34" 20-fret maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard featuring the infamous clay dot position markers.
By 1957, the Precision’s headstock had been redesigned to mirror the Stratocaster’s, and that version of the bass remains largely unchanged today (thank goodness.) John Paul Jones used his '61 P-bass onstage with Led Zeppelin from 1971 through 1975 for Black Dog, so we're pretty sure it'll serve you well.
This little piece of Fender history comes complete with original hardware, electronics, and case. We can't accurately describe how amazing this thing sounds and feels; you have to come in and experience it yourself. Come worship at the altar of Fender today...
